A marketplace with millions of shoppers may be notified by the government as a Significant Data Fiduciary. It must appoint a Data Protection Officer based in India and an independent data auditor, and the DPDP Rules add an impact assessment and an audit every 12 months, checks on algorithmic software and limits on sending specified data outside India.
